The online programme on civic education is an open platform for discussion and exchange for SCE alumni and participants and the wider public in Russia, Belarus, and throughout the region.
After the regime resorted to repressions against civil society and independent media, and considering personal safety concerns that make impossible for participants from Russia travel and participate in SCE events in numbers, online programming has become an increasingly critical component of the School’s efforts to support and connect both those who have left Russia and those inside the country. Maintaining links with the civil society inside Russia is one of the essential tasks for SCE. Yearly outreach of the School’s multimedia programme exceeds 3 millions views.
The School’s websites and social media platforms not only outline the global processes, but also monitor major developments in the country and raise the most pressing issues for discussion. Current online programming includes the following:
- Video-interviews with the key representatives of the School’s expert and alumni community.
- The website Sapere. Online, a go-to site, regularly updated with articles, seminar lectures, discussions and interview transcripts, as well as original writings and translations on the most pressing topics such as global order and international architecture, the role of civil society, global decline of democracy, human rights and the rule of law, climate change, migrant crisis, peacemaking, historical memory, transitional justice, and many more.
- An award-winning interview-based podcast with leading experts and policy leaders, including School alumni, from Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, South Caucasus, Central Asia, Europe and the United States.
- The School’s Digital Library contains e-versions of the School’s quarterly journal «Obschaya Tetrad» and books published by the School during more than 30 years of publishing.
