A seminar, «Sapere Aude: Civic Education for a Society of Citizens» held in Warsaw with support from the Stockholm Institute of Transition Economics under the Advanced School programme, brought together about 40 representatives of civil society, the expert community, journalists, human-rights defenders, diplomats, and academics from the EU, Ukraine, Russia, Central Asia, and the South Caucasus to discuss the most pressing issues facing societies today.

Through courses, workshops, roundtables, and discussions, participants addressed significant challenges of our time: reimagining global governance in an age of disorder and unregulated AI; the key role of the humanities as a foundation for democracy and the rule of law; and activist experiences from France, Turkey, and Ukraine. They also worked on theories of change and peer-reviewed projects developed during the year. Core themes, like justice, the rule of law, and standing up for the values of freedom, dignity, human rights, and solidarity across borders, were highlights of this meeting, as with other School gatherings. As a part of the seminar participants had city tour to the territory of the former Warsaw Ghetto that highlights themes of memory and oblivion, as well as historical politics regarding the Holocaust and Polish-Jewish relations and the 1944 Warsaw Uprising.
