This book is about the post-Soviet period (1991−2022), which was in its own way an unprecedented epoch in human history. Its uniqueness lay not only in the fact that the collapse of the USSR created the opportunity to experience freedom and test the creative potential for the people and nations of Eastern Europe and Northern Eurasia, but also in that this opportunity did not come at a price comparable to the Soviet experiment. Without learning the lessons of post-Soviet history, the peoples of Eastern Europe and Northern Eurasia are doomed to repeat the vicious cycles of tragedy and destruction.
