During his short life (1903−1950) George Orwell managed to write several novels, hundreds of journalistic articles, literary studies, and essays. The book offered to the reader, in which most of the articles are published in Russian for the first time, is a kind of concise course of lectures on human dignity, sense of duty and, most importantly, independence and freedom.
