This book is, in the author’s words, «an introduction to communism and, at the same time, its obituary». Summarizing the movement that dominated the world for most of the twentieth century, Pipes writes that the collapse of communism was not caused by anyone’s blunders or mistakes, but came as the result of a flaw inherent in its very nature.
