In this book the author, a professional diplomat and high-ranking international politician, critically analyses the key features of the post-Cold War world order. The main statement is that the international community is becoming less and less manageable, and the geopolitical type of thinking and acting is becoming more and more ineffective. The growing power of the East, civilisational, socio-economic and political problems of the West, the ‘individualisation’ of the world, the increasing influence of emotions, national codes and mental orientations in the society require the elites to radically rethink the logic of managing world processes. The author considers the task of reinterpreting Europe’s role in world events particularly crucial. The author states that there will be no simple solution. One thing is clear: the growing process of ‘new globalisation convergence’ is able to combine the fragments of this multipolar world puzzle into a harmonious picture of a symbolic continent, ‘New Pangea’.
