Naum Korzhavin was born in 1925 in Kiev. He began to publish in 1941. In 1945 he entered the Gorky Literary Institute. In 1947 he was arrested on charges of anti-Soviet activities. While serving exile in Karaganda, he graduated from the Mining Technical College there. In 1954 he was amnestied, in 1956 he was rehabilitated. In 1959 he graduated from the Literary Institute.
Author of famous poetry books published in our country and abroad (‘Years’, 1963; ‘Times’, 1976; ‘Plexus’, 1981, ‘Time is given’, 1992, etc.), plays and many articles about literature (in ‘Novy Mir’, ‘Continent’, ‘Graniyakh’, etc.). He has been a member of the editorial board of Kontinent Magazine since 1974.
In 1973 Korzhavin was forced to emigrate. He lived in Boston afterwards.
