Marianna Poberezhskaya

Associate Professor in Politics and International Relations at Nottingham Trent University, UK.

Marianna’s research interests include environmental communication, climate skepticism, geoengineering, and national climate governance. Marianna has extensively researched official and media climate discourses in Russia. Since 2018 she has expanded her area of expertise by also looking at other authoritarian regimes and their approaches to climate change discourse. She is currently involved in research projects in Central Asia and Jordan. Some of the recent publications include: ‘Russian climate scepticism: an understudied case’ (with T. Ashe), Climatic Change 172, 41 (2022); ‘Kazakhstan’s climate change policy: reflecting national strength, green economy aspirations and international agenda’ (with A.
