In 2015, the TV company was disconnected from the airwaves by the Russian authorities for its independent editorial policy and had its license revoked. In March 2022, after the outbreak of war in Ukraine, Roskomnadzor blocked the website of TV2 News Agency. Together with several colleagues from his team, Muchnik left Russia. Viktor Muchnik was an associate professor of the Department of History of the Ancient World, Middle Ages and Methodology of History at TSU (1983 — 2018). Author of three monographs and many articles on historiography and methodology of history. Author of a number of publications on media issues in the Russian and foreign press. Presently in exile Viktor Muchnik created in cooperation with his colleagues the following media projects, «Eyewitnesses 24 February», and «Govorit NeMoskva».
