On the eve of Hungary’s parliamentary elections on April 12, many expected the ruling Fidesz party and its leader Viktor Orbán to lose, but few expected a complete rout. The young Tisza party, led by Péter Magyar, won a triumphant victory, gaining — according to preliminary data — 137 seats out of 199 in parliament, against 56 for Fidesz.
