Ambassador René Nyberg is a long-serving Finnish diplomat. In 1971 he joined the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland and served in Moscow, Leningrad, Brussels, Bonn and as the Ambassador to the OSCE, Vienna between 1992−1995.
In 2000, he was appointed Ambassador to Moscow and in 2004 Ambassador to Berlin.
He became the CEO of the East Office of Finnish Industries in 2008 before retiring in 2013. He is the author of The Last Train to Moscow, which has been translated into Estonian, Russian and Latvian.
