In Search of Lost Universalism

The 9th International Forum «In Search of Lost Universalism» in cooperation with European Humanities University, Stockholm Institute of Transition Economics and with support from the Council of Europe took place in Vilnius on July 3rd, and brought together about 130 participants from EU, Ukraine, Russia, Central Asia, South Caucasus, and US and turned out to be a day filled with insights from distinguished policymakers, analysts, journalists, academia, and activists.

As the old world order collapses, countries struggle to define the guiding principles of the new order. The School insists that there is no sustainable peace without civil society playing an active part, not only in bringing today’s perpetrators to justice but also in dealing with the crimes of the past. Participants also focused on key issues such as the global shift in politics, the role of civil society, justice and responsibility, and the new security framework, which is impossible without active societal participation. Alumni from the previous year presented their projects and received feedback from the current Advanced group, experts, and the audience.
